ETF Supplemental Organic Treatment - Class 2 Permit Modification

The U.S. Department of Energy is holding a 60-day public comment period on a proposed Class 2 permit modification to the Hanford Dangerous Waste Permit, involving the 200 Area Effluent Treatment Facility (ETF) at the Hanford Site.

“The ETF Supplemental Organic Treatment project will add a steam stripping system at ETF. The steam stripper system provides additional waste treatment during WTP aqueous waste campaigns for removal of organics that are not effectively destroyed in the UV/OX unit. When the 200 Area ETF is processing other waste streams the steam stripper system is anticipated to be bypassed.”
